Class Types

Yoga

Multiple styles available: yoga, yin yoga, yin yang yoga, yoga tune up, yoga-qigong, and chair yoga. Many centres offer yoga 50+ and older adult yoga for gentler sessions.

Zumba

Dance fitness classes set to Latin and world music. Variations include Zumba Gold (lower intensity, good for beginners and older adults), Zumba Gold 50+, and Zumba Toning (with light weights).

Cardio & Strength

The most common class type across Ottawa centres. Available as regular, 50+, and older adult versions. Also: cardio and stretch 50+, step and strength, and sports conditioning.

HIIT

High-intensity interval training. Short bursts of all-out effort followed by rest. Available at select centres.

Pilates

Core-focused classes with controlled movements. Available as regular and 50+ versions.

Indoor Cycling

Stationary bike classes. Available at several centres — reservation usually required due to limited bikes.

Many classes have dedicated 50+ or older adult versions: chair exercise (Heartwise), balance and stability, strength circuit for older adults, TMC (Total Mind and Body Conditioning), and vitality 50+.
