Advertising policy

Advertising terms & refund policy

What your booking includes, how dates are confirmed, and what happens when plans change.

Policy version: 2026-10-19 · All campaign dates use Toronto time (America/Toronto).

These terms apply to paid advertising purchased directly from 613today. Your written booking confirmation records the advertiser, approved creative and destination, placements, dates, price, applicable taxes, and accepted policy version. Keep a copy of that confirmation and these terms. The version you accepted applies to your booking; later changes do not change an existing booking without your agreement.

1. Booking and payment

  1. The enquiry form accepts start dates at least seven calendar days ahead. For a shorter-notice request, email us directly; acceptance is subject to review. An enquiry is not a reservation.
  2. We review availability, the business, creative, and destination. We agree the final preview and scope before requesting payment.
  3. Once approved, we offer a 48-hour payment hold with an exact deadline in Toronto time. We send the booking details, policy, and a Stripe payment request.
  4. You explicitly accept the booking details and policy before paying. We confirm the reservation after verifying successful payment.

A temporary hold blocks the dates while it is valid. An unpaid hold can be released after its deadline only once we have checked the payment status and closed the payment request. An expired enquiry or payment request does not guarantee those dates remain available. If a payment succeeds unexpectedly after a booking cannot be honoured, we will offer an available alternative or a full refund; we will not double-book the exclusive campaign.

Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Plans are one-time purchases, with no subscription or automatic renewal. Your payment request shows the full amount and any applicable taxes before you pay. We do not add an undisclosed payment-processing fee.

Proposed standard prices for one exclusive campaign
DurationCalendar daysPrice (CAD)
1 week7$299
2 weeks14$499
3 weeks21$649
4 weeks28$799

Each campaign runs for 7, 14, 21, or 28 consecutive Toronto calendar days. It starts at 00:00 on the confirmed start date and ends just before 00:00 on the confirmed exclusive end date. Both dates are written in your confirmation. Daylight-saving changes do not add or remove a booked calendar day. A business day means Monday to Friday, excluding Ontario statutory holidays, in Toronto time.

2. Placements and exclusivity

One advertiser receives all five current eligible advertising positions during the confirmed campaign: the homepage featured card, the banner below the page breadcrumb, the related-content feature, the footer promotion, and the dismissible popup. We do not sell these positions to another advertiser during your reserved period. Our own advertising recruitment banner is also hidden during that period.

  • The homepage uses its featured card; the breadcrumb banner appears on supported event, place, guide, and tool pages, rather than on the homepage.
  • The related-content feature appears only where a page has a related-content section. The footer and popup appear where their components are available.
  • About, Contact, Privacy, Terms, Projects, Advertising information, and Advertising terms pages are excluded, including their subpages.
  • Placements vary by page and screen size. All five do not appear together on every page. A popup can be dismissed, and repeat display is limited.
  • Ad blockers, disabled JavaScript, browser preferences, and other visitor settings can prevent display or measurement.

Exclusivity covers these advertising positions. Ordinary event listings, business listings, guides, unpaid editorial features, and links to other businesses continue to appear. It is not category exclusivity or a promise to remove competitors from editorial content. Social posts, third-party platforms, newsletters, new future placements, and other services are not included unless separately agreed in writing.

3. Creative, destinations, and free features

Your campaign can link to an approved HTTPS website or an approved 613today page. We may help write a 613today event, place, or business feature at no additional writing charge when it fits our editorial coverage. The advertising fee pays for the agreed placement period. It does not buy a positive review, editorial endorsement, guaranteed publication of every submission, or a permanently published page.

You approve the final image, copy, dates, and destination before payment. Please check accuracy and that the link works. You confirm you have permission to provide and publish the materials, including photographs, logos, claims, and personal information. You give 613today permission to display and reasonably resize or adapt approved materials for the booked placements. Substantive changes require your approval.

Paid placements are clearly labelled as advertising or sponsored content. We retain editorial control of any 613today article, including corrections and removal where justified. A free feature can remain after the paid campaign at our editorial discretion; paid promotion ends on the agreed date.

4. Advertising restrictions and review

We accept paid advertising that fits a general-audience Ottawa discovery site. Every campaign requires our manual review of the advertiser, image, copy, claims, destination and any redirects before approval and payment. Choosing a category or submitting an enquiry does not approve an advertisement.

Advertising we do not accept

The following are 613today's own rules for this advertising programme. Some activities may be lawful elsewhere; that does not mean we accept their paid promotion. These restrictions apply to advertising and do not by themselves determine our independent editorial coverage or ordinary event submissions.

  • Illegal, fraudulent or deceptive content. Scams, impersonation, counterfeit goods, fake reviews, hidden charges, unsupported guarantees, phishing, malware, concealed destinations, or materials that infringe copyright, privacy or other rights.
  • Hate, harassment or violence. Discriminatory or hateful messages, targeted harassment, threats, extremist recruitment, or content that promotes violence or serious harm.
  • Adult sexual content or services. Pornography, sexual services, escort services, or businesses primarily selling sexual content.
  • Gambling and betting. Real-money gambling, casinos, sports betting, or promotions whose main purpose is paid-entry gambling.
  • Tobacco, vaping, cannabis and drug sales. Tobacco or vaping products, cannabis or recreational drugs, drug-use equipment, or the sale of prescription medicines. Ordinary healthcare appointments are reviewed separately.
  • Weapons, ammunition and explosives. Sales or promotion of weapons, ammunition, explosives, or instructions to cause harm.
  • Political and election campaigns. Candidate or party promotion, political fundraising, or advertising intended to influence an election or referendum.
  • Speculative finance and recruitment schemes. Speculative crypto, forex or binary-options promotions, guaranteed-return or get-rich-quick offers, pyramid schemes, or multilevel-marketing recruitment.

Campaigns that need additional review

  • Health, wellness and professional services. We may request relevant registration or licences, qualifications, and evidence for health, financial, insurance or legal claims. Unsubstantiated cures, guaranteed financial outcomes and prohibited products are not accepted.
  • Alcohol sales or alcohol-brand promotion. We review the offer, audience, creative and any relevant licensing before deciding. Ordinary restaurant, bar and cultural-event advertising is not automatically excluded merely because alcohol is served.
  • Fundraising, giveaways and competitions. We may ask for the organiser's identity, beneficiary, clear rules and any required authorisation. Gambling and other prohibited promotions remain excluded.
  • Other or unclear offers. We may request information or decline a campaign that does not fit our audience or that we cannot reasonably verify. Additional review is not an exception to the prohibited categories above.

Approval, changes and removal

Please describe the actual business and offer accurately. A prohibited promotion is not accepted simply because it is submitted under a different category, placed on an otherwise ordinary business website, or linked through a redirect. We may review the full landing page and the goods or services it promotes. A payment does not waive these rules or approve later changes.

Changes to an approved image, offer, claim, product, destination or redirect need our approval before publication, including material changes on the linked page. Send requests by email. We will confirm what can be changed and when; a request does not automatically pause the campaign or extend its end date. We do not charge an unagreed editing fee. If we cannot accommodate a change, the cancellation options below remain available.

We may immediately pause or remove advertising if we reasonably believe it breaches these standards, infringes rights, or creates a legal, security or serious safety concern. We will explain the issue and notify you where reasonably possible, and offer a correction opportunity when appropriate. An unlawful or prohibited advertisement does not need to remain live while a correction is discussed.

If we suspend or end a campaign, we account for service actually delivered and refund the unserved time and affected scope from suspension, unless a legal restriction prevents a refund. We use the original booked rate and do not impose a blanket forfeiture or an unagreed penalty. We confirm the calculation and any correction or resumption in writing. The refund process and non-waivable rights below still apply.

To report an advertisement, email 613today.ca@gmail.com with its title or business name, the page address, and the concern. Do not include sensitive identification documents unless we have specifically arranged a suitable way to provide them.

5. Results and reporting

We provide the agreed advertising placements and period. We do not guarantee a minimum number of views, impressions, clicks, enquiries, sales, search rankings, or return on investment. Any traffic examples or estimates are identified as such. Available campaign reporting may be incomplete because of visitor consent, blocking, or measurement limitations; a click is not a confirmed sale. We do not install an advertiser's tracking code without separate review and any required consent.

6. Cancellations and refunds

Email 613today.ca@gmail.com from the booking contact, including the booking reference and requested cancellation. We use the time your written request reaches us, not the time we reply. We will confirm the calculation in writing.

When you cancelRefund
Before the confirmed startFull campaign payment refunded, including applicable refundable taxes. No cancellation or processing fee.
After the campaign startsUnused complete Toronto calendar days from the next midnight after your request are refunded at the original booked daily rate. The day we receive your request counts as a used day if the campaign ran as agreed; missed delivery is credited separately under section 8.
We cannot deliver the agreed serviceA proportionate refund for the missed service, or an extension you accept. See delivery issues below.

The daily rate is the original campaign price divided by the originally booked number of calendar days. We round the final service-price refund to the nearest cent, rather than rounding each daily rate. We do not reprice used days at the more expensive one-week rate or withdraw the original multiweek discount. For example, a CAD 799 four-week campaign with 14 unused complete days has a CAD 399.50 service-price refund, with applicable tax adjusted separately. Refunds never exceed the amount paid for the affected service.

We initiate an agreed refund through Stripe to the original payment method within five business days after confirming the amount. Your bank or payment provider controls when it appears. If a refund route is unavailable, we will contact you to arrange an appropriate alternative. These terms do not limit any cancellation, refund, dispute, or other rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

7. Schedule changes

One free reschedule is available per booking in total, either before or after the start, subject to the conditions below.

  • Before the start: request a move of the entire campaign at least three business days before the confirmed start. The same duration and booked price apply, subject to availability and our written confirmation.
  • Closer to the start: we will try to accommodate a request, but cannot guarantee it. You may instead cancel under the full-refund rule before the start.
  • After the start: if your free reschedule has not been used, you may request a move of the unused complete days to an available future period at the original daily rate. It takes effect only when we agree the remaining dates in writing. Already delivered time is not moved or refunded twice.

The original booking continues while a date-change request is being reviewed unless you also request cancellation. There is no automatic pause, extension, or new reservation. If alternative dates do not work, you can cancel and receive the refund calculated above. An event cancellation or postponement does not automatically change an advertising booking; tell us which option you want.

8. Delivery issues and our cancellations

If we cancel a campaign before it starts, you receive a full refund. If our outage, scheduling error, incorrect destination, or failure to provide an agreed placement affects delivery, we will investigate and offer a proportionate refund for the affected time and scope, or an equivalent extension if you prefer and dates are available. If only some placements fail, the remedy reflects those affected placements rather than treating the entire campaign as delivered. We explain the calculation and agree it with you; we do not replace it with an unrelated future credit without your agreement.

Please report problems promptly with the page, approximate time, and a screenshot if available. We will also act on issues we discover ourselves. Ordinary visitor blocking and disclosed display limits are not an outage. A legitimate cancellation or delivery issue is not refused simply because you did not report it immediately. If an external destination you control becomes unavailable, contact us to approve a replacement, reschedule, or cancel under the rules above.

9. Privacy, records, and contact

We use advertiser contact details, enquiry content, approved materials, booking records, policy acceptance, and payment references to review and deliver campaigns, communicate, handle refunds or disputes, and maintain required records. Stripe processes payments. Do not email card numbers or security codes. Our Privacy Policy explains personal-information handling.

Contact 613today.ca@gmail.com about bookings, changes, cancellations, or complaints. Include your booking reference so we can investigate. The general Terms of Service also apply; these advertising terms govern paid advertising if the two conflict. Ontario and applicable federal Canadian law apply, without removing rights or remedies that apply by law.
