A Lingering Lynchian Adventure
The imaginations of Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond, co-directors of Vancouver’s Out Innerspace, know no bounds. With a movement style marked by fluidity and plasticity they construct pieces that play with the subconscious and the surreal. Using evocative lighting as an emotional design language, their works combine a cinematic aesthetic with highly percussive physicality.
In Rhino an unlikely cast of characters past their prime — including a skeleton, rhino, and matador — jostle to maintain relevance; in their efforts to persist and resist, they unite in their hope, and struggle for a future. Set in a tragicomical dreamscape, seven performers grapple with their fates as they attempt to stand the test of time.
A shadowy and stirring performance illuminated by spectacular technique.
