For Treaties Recognition Week, Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada present a talk by Anishinaabe Algonquin advocate, academic and author Dr. Lynn Gehl.
Gehl introduces the relationship between the historic treaty process and the contemporary land claims process. She draws on Algonquin Anishinaabeg history in the Ottawa River Valley and her own experience to discuss Indigenous rights and the continuing consequences of colonial policy.
A book signing follows the programme. French simultaneous interpretation is available; the library asks participants to let staff know if they would like to use it. The event is supported by the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association.
When: Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 7 pm. The official page lists a 75-minute programme.
Where: Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street.
Registration: Follow the library’s official registration link. No admission price is stated on the library page. Contact Ottawa Public Library for registration assistance or accommodation requests.
