About Voyageur Provincial Park
Voyageur Provincial Park is one of the largest campgrounds within easy reach of Ottawa — 416 campsites spread across 1,466 hectares along 5.6 km of the Ottawa River's south shore. It's about 75 minutes east of downtown, near Chute-à-Blondeau in the bilingual Prescott-Russell region.
The size is its main advantage: when other parks closer to Ottawa are fully booked, Voyageur often still has availability. It's a solid pick for a straightforward beach camping weekend.
Camping
The park has 416 campsites across three campgrounds, plus group camping:
Champlain Campground
Mix of electrical and non-electrical sites. Comfort station with showers and laundry.
Iroquois Campground
Mix of electrical and non-electrical sites. Comfort station with showers and laundry.
Portage Campground
Mix of electrical and non-electrical sites. Comfort station with showers and laundry.
In total, 110 sites have electrical hookups across the three campgrounds.
Group Camping
5 group sites — 4 accommodate up to 100 people, 1 for groups under 50.
Things to Do
Swimming
Four sandy beaches along the Ottawa River — two in the day-use area and others within the campgrounds. The river setting means warm, shallow water in summer.
Paddling & Fishing
Two boat launches — one at Champlain for smaller boats, another at Iroquois/Portage for larger craft. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats are available for rent in the day-use area. Fishing from boat or shore on the Ottawa River.
Day Use
A large day-use picnic area with capacity for 350 cars, picnic tables, and BBQs — popular for day trips even without camping.
Winter
Cross-country ski trails are available in the winter months.
