Matti McLean brings A Canadian Explains Eurovision to Other Canadians to Arts Court Theatre for one night on Thursday, November 19, 2026. The solo show mixes comedy, storytelling, music and audience participation to introduce the history, personalities and controversies of the Eurovision Song Contest.

What to expect
McLean approaches Eurovision as a Canadian performer and devoted fan, bringing together a talk-style presentation, stand-up humour and karaoke. The show explores the competition's spectacular performances, devoted following and cultural impact, with references ranging from ABBA and Celine Dion to its more eccentric moments.
Personal stories and audience participation are part of the evening, making it an introduction for people discovering Eurovision as well as a celebration for longtime followers.
The Ottawa performance comes as Canada prepares to enter the competition for the first time in 2027, as confirmed by the official Eurovision announcement.
