Che_nous, accompanied by Jean‑François Tremblay on piano and Eazy El Dee on the turntables, delivers an acoustic set with reggae inflections. At once organic and stripped down, the music and lyrics are given room to breathe. The group has made a name for itself with warm, socially conscious songs and catchy beats that captivate audiences and get them grooving.
Founded in 2025, Che_nous blends hip-hop, reggae and world music. The project brings together D-Track (Gatineau) and Dumis9ne I (Malawi) on vocals, with Quest (Ottawa) handling production. Performing in French, English, and Chewa (a language spoken in Malawi), the group draws inspiration from artists such as Damian Marley/Nas, Chronixx, and, in certain respects, Biga*Ranx.
Che_nous’s catchy, genre-blending urban rhythms are rooted in cultural diversity and feature positive, unifying lyrics that create space for listeners to reflect. With a wide range of experiences across music scenes, the group’s members craft a sound that is authentic, current and deeply human.
