Knit With Greta Grip and Lee Jones

Knit With Greta Grip and Lee Jones

Join artistic duo, Greta Grip and Lee Jones, for a beginner-friendly knitting workshop at the Bytown Museum! On August 16, the duo will show participants how to combine art and technology as they learn to knit their own data using replica knitting machines.

Greta and Lee are the artists behind the Museum’s textile installation, Gauge: A City Measured in Time, which marks Ottawa’s bicentennial by translating the city’s data on our shared histories, present realities, and possible futures into a living, knitted form.

Learn about the Artists

Greta Grip is interested in the relationship between technology and handmade craft. What is old is new again, with the use of contemporary materials and technologies.

Lee Jones uses participatory design to create easy-to-use toolkits for individuals to build prototypes and have a say in the direction of their technologies.

This project was funded by the City of Ottawa and Ottawa Tourism.
