About
The NCC River House is a unique waterfront venue built entirely on stilts above the Ottawa River. Reopened in 2023 after a major revitalization, it's operated by the National Capital Commission and offers one of the most scenic dining experiences in Ottawa.
The location along the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway provides sweeping views of the Ottawa River and the Gatineau Hills.
Café & Bistro
The café serves sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, and seasonal dishes. Full dining is available May through October (11 AM–9 PM). During winter months (November–April), limited service runs 10 AM–2 PM.
Swimming
In summer, supervised swimming docks are open from 11 AM to 7:30 PM with lifeguards on duty. One of the few places in Ottawa where you can swim in the Ottawa River.
Getting There
The River House is on the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway, east of the Rockcliffe neighbourhood. Parking is available on-site. The Capital Pathway runs past the venue, making it accessible by bike.
