The 8th Kaléidoscope musical at MIFO is a sensitive musical journey. This year’s artists are Caroline Savoie (NB), Flora Luna (MB), Shauit (QC) and McLean (ON), under the artistic direction of Mario Lepage, aka Ponteix (SK).
The artists merge their creative worlds, performing their own songs and playing back up for each other. An intimate evening that remains true to its aim of helping audiences discover or rediscover artists with contrasting styles.
Singer-songwriter Caroline Savoie deftly paints a portrait of love and truth. From her triumph at the Festival International de la chanson de Granby in 2015 to the release of four celebrated albums, the artist has been busy on her pop – with indie-rock twists – journey. With more than 500 performances here, in the United States and in Europe – notably with Daniel Lavoie, Francis Cabrel, Paul Piché, Les Sœurs Boulay and Émile Bilodeau – Caroline has built up a solid reputation.
Through songs carried by rich melodies and understated arrangements, Flora Luna weaves a heady atmosphere that oscillates between light and mystery. Each piece resonates like a chapter of an interior journey, evoking wonder, nostalgia and the power of nocturnal emotions. A moment suspended in time, where the artist’s captivating voice guides us between fantasy and reality.
Shauit, a native of Québec’s Côte-Nord, sings the complexity and beauty of the Innu nation in a harmonious blend of folk, roots and reggae. His work has earned him many distinctions, including the Félix for Album of the Year in Indigenous Languages at the ADISQ 2023 Premier Gala, the 2023 GAMIQ for Album Trad, Album of the year at the 2023 NERFA and Best Indigenous Album at the Indigenous Music Awards, as well as best singer-songwriter at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Simon Jutras, alias Mclean, born in Sudbury, Ontario, is a singer-songwriter who performed extensively with a few different bands before going solo in 2013. That was the same year that he officially kicked off his Mclean project, during the Ontario Pop concert, where he took the Petite Vallée award for writing. In his creative process, the trained classical guitarist enjoys juggling with literary and musical themes.
Originally from the heart of the Canadian Prairies, Mario Lepage (Ponteix), winner of Francophone Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards 2025, distills his hypnotic grooves by skilfully combining electronic psychedelic pop with the melancholy of RnB and indie rock. Blown by the prairie winds, Mario landed in Montréal, where the second Ponteix opus, Le Canadien errant, was released in February 2025.
