Celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra with an exceptional evening of chamber music performed by the Orchestra’s distinguished Chamber Orchestra ensemble.
As part of its 2026 Canada Tour, the ensemble brings together a vibrant program that bridges Eastern and Western musical traditions. The first half features beloved masterpieces of the string repertoire, including Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C Major, showcasing the elegance, virtuosity, and expressive power of one of China’s leading orchestral institutions.
The second half highlights the rich musical heritage of China through a selection of celebrated works, including Dance of the Golden Snake, The Butterfly Lovers, and Dance of the Yao People. Audiences will also discover Qipao, a contemporary work by composer Yang Fan inspired by the beauty and refinement of traditional Chinese culture.
Presented during the Mid-Autumn Festival season, the concert includes a special suite of moon-themed works—Axi Dancing Under the Moon, Clouds Chasing the Moon, and Blooming Flowers Under the Full Moon—offering a musical celebration of reunion, harmony, and shared humanity.
Blending timeless classics with beloved Chinese masterpieces, this unique concert invites audiences of all backgrounds to experience a musical dialogue between cultures and to discover the universal language of music that connects people across borders.
