Cayenne Carnaval

Cayenne Carnaval is the first edition of a free bilingual gathering for live arts, youth creation, and indie cinema. It is at the Institut canadien-français d'Ottawa (ICFO) in the ByWard Market on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Artist Mehdi Cayenne is presenting it. Admission is free. RSVP on the official page.

The English press release lists partners REEL CANADA, the Assemblée de la francophonie de l'Ontario (AFO), Collège La Cité, CEPEO / CEAO, and the ByWard Market District Authority (BMDA).

Afternoon: public recording, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

The organizer's listing calls this block The Living Lab: a live workshop and recording, student performances, and a sidewalk chalk mural.

The official page describes an immersive public recording from 3:00 pm with sculpted masks, ambulatory theatre, and live visual art. The press release and poster add vocal and artistic performances by students from the Centre d'excellence artistique de l'Ontario (CEAO).

Evening: movie night, from 6:00 pm

REEL CANADA presents a double feature: the exclusive screening of La vie d'artiste, an unpublished 47-minute musical film, then a surprise feature and a filmmaker Q&A.

The listing request runs this block from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The poster lists the cinema block as 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Confirm on the official page before you go.

On site

The official page and press release say there is a full bar and hot dogs. The press release also mentions an illuminated courtyard.
