A Pacific Theatre Production
Forgive him Father for he has chosen theatre.
Ins Choi, the creator of Kim’s Convenience, comes from a long line of clergy. Before he was born, his mother made an offering to God that if she had a son, he would dedicate his life to the church. Turns out both God and Ins had other plans. Behold the triumphant return to the stage of one of theatre’s greats, as he riffs on Bible stories, his creative process, and growing up as the only son of the head pastor at a Korean church. A talented performer takes us on a musical storytelling journey, sharing how he built a career in the arts, won over his parents, and manifested the representation he always longed to see as a child.
This deeply personal show sits at the intersection of faith and art— a whimsical, funny, and heartfelt tribute from a Canadian theatre icon to his father, his passion, and Korean-Canadian communities.
