Join Us – National Ceremony at Beechwood Cemetery On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, we invite you to join us at Beechwood Cemetery for a significant national moment of remembrance and recognition. In partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces and Indigenous community leaders, the Beechwood Cemetery Foundation will host the Unveiling of the Inuit Sacred Spiritual Symbol (Qulliq) at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces. This ceremony marks an important step forward in ensuring that Inuit members of the Canadian Armed Forces are honoured in a way that reflects their cultural identity, traditions, and spiritual beliefs. The Qulliq, a traditional Inuit lamp, symbolizes light, warmth, and continuity, values deeply connected to service, resilience, and community. Event Details: 📅 Tuesday, May 19, 2026 🕙 10:00 a.m. 📍 Sacred Space, Beechwood National Memorial Centre 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa The program will include ceremonial opening by Indigenous Elders, traditional Inuit cultural elements, remarks from senior leadership, and the formal unveiling and blessing of the updated spiritual symbols. This is more than a ceremony, it is a meaningful step in strengthening how we honour those who have served, ensuring that remembrance reflects the full diversity of Canada.
