This exhibition explores the artist’s experience under the shadows of the pandemic. During her almost daily walks, Roxanne Lafleur took notice of her environment along the Rideau Canal and began to document her observations: fragility, survival, resilience, isolation, and the tensions between nature and culture.
Lafleur’s work features twenty-four elements of various small folded and square inkjet prints, juxtaposed to larger prints, and uses a play with words between both official languages to describe what the images cannot.
confinement will be on display in both the Canal-level and Mezzanine of Southam Hall lobby at the National Arts Centre between May 1 and November 27, 2026.
