The National Remembrance Day Ceremony takes place at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, honouring Canadian veterans and fallen soldiers.

Date: Tuesday, November 11, 2025 Time: Ceremony begins at 10:30 AM, two minutes of silence at 11:00 AM Location: National War Memorial, Confederation Square, Downtown Ottawa Admission: Free

Ceremony Elements

  • 10:10 AM - Veterans form up in front of the Chateau Laurier (1 Rideau Street)
  • 10:30 AM - Step off and ceremony begins
  • 11:00 AM - Two minutes of silence
  • Dignitaries - Prime Minister, Governor General, and Silver Cross Mother
  • National Anthem
  • Wreath-Laying Ceremony
  • Flypast - Weather permitting

Special Flypasts

  • 10:50-11:59 AM - Canadian Armed Forces CF-18 Hornet fighter jets
  • 11:30 AM - Three vintage military aircraft marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force

Road Closures

7:00 AM - 2:00 PM:

  • Elgin Street (from Laurier Avenue to Wellington Street)
